Course Description
A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a digital computer that continuously monitors or scans the state of input devices and controls the state of output devices based on a custom program. A basic industrial PLC typically consists of an embedded computer, inputs, outputs, and a power supply with battery backup. They usually automate industrial electromechanical processes such as Robotic arm control, CNC, Elevator control, etc.
The importance of studying PLC can be relayed from the studies that show only fifteen percent of engineering (technology) graduates enter the research. and development workforce and the remaining Eighty-five percent of the graduates enter the manufacturing industry workforce where they are required to apply and maintain designed and developed pieces of equipment and devices for production processes. As such, in order to prepare these eighty-five percent, it is important to learn PLC programming and hardware familiarization which is more real-world and application orientated, such as a course in PLC systems.
This course will guide you through various companies’ PLCs and their programming, simulations, hardware concepts, etc through real-world projects that are widely implemented in industries.
